What Is the Non-Farm Payrolls (NFP) Report?
NFP is a monthly report from the US Bureau of Labor Statistics showing how many jobs the US economy added or lost outside farming.
Explained
It usually comes out on the first Friday of the month, along with the unemployment rate and average earnings. The dollar, gold and US indices move hard around it, spreads widen and slippage happens, so many traders avoid entering right before it.
Example
Example with made-up numbers150,000 new jobs were expected and the actual number was 250,000, a positive surprise that can lift the dollar the moment it is released.
