What Are Japanese Candlesticks and How Do You Read Them?
A Japanese candlestick draws four prices for a period: the open and close (the body) and the high and low (the wicks).
Explained
A bullish candle closes above its open, a bearish one below it. A big body shows one side in clear control; a long wick shows a price that was rejected. A candle’s meaning depends on where it appears: the same shape can mean one thing after a fall and another after a rise.
Example
Example with made-up numbersOpen 100, close 104, high 106, low 99. The candle is bullish with a body of 4, an upper wick of 2 (104 to 106) and a lower wick of 1 (99 to 100).
