What Is an Order Book?
An order book is a live list of resting buy orders (bids) and resting sell orders (asks) at each price on an exchange.
Explained
Large sizes in the book are called “walls” and can slow or stop price, but they may be pulled before price reaches them. That is why seeing the book over time tells you more than a single snapshot, which is what liquidity heatmaps show.
Example
Example with made-up numbersAt 60,000 there is a resting buy of 500 bitcoin, far bigger than around it, a buy wall that may slow a fall if it stays.
