What Is CVD (Cumulative Volume Delta)?
Delta is market-buy volume minus market-sell volume in a candle, and CVD is its running total candle after candle.
Explained
CVD shows which side is more aggressive: who is buying or selling at market right now. Price rising while CVD falls can mean the rise has no strong buying behind it. CVD needs real trade data, so it is used most in crypto and futures.
Example
Example with made-up numbersThree candles with deltas of +500, −200 and +100 give a CVD of 500 − 200 + 100 = 400.
