Why it helps

What usually knocks traders out is not a losing trade but a position too big for the account. Risk management starts with one question: how much am I willing to lose on this trade? The size follows from that answer, not the other way round. Gold in particular has a different pip value from currency pairs, which makes manual sums easy to get wrong.

FAQ

How do I calculate lot size?

Decide the amount you accept to lose (for example 1% of your balance), measure the distance from entry to stop-loss in pips, and divide the amount by (distance × pip value per lot). The tool does this for you and handles your account currency and the instrument.

What lot size should I use on gold?

There is no single right size: it depends on your balance, your risk and how far your stop is. Pick gold (XAUUSD) in the tool and enter your trade to get the size that respects the amount you set.

What is a normal risk per trade?

Many traders keep each trade between 0.5% and 2% of the balance, which is why the tool has quick buttons for those levels. The right figure for you comes from your plan and how long a losing streak you can sit through.
